Generation 1 - Part 2: Trouble in Paradise

It was the third day in a row that Serena didn't feel to happy. She had been hanging over the toilet at least a dozen times a day, she was tired and couldn't find any energy to do some useful things. At first she was secretly blaming Avian for not taking care of the garden to well. But as it took longer and longer before she would feel better, she had to admit to herself that something else was going on.

Then one day, all of sudden she felt something "move" inside her. She knew she could no longer hide this, she had to talk about her suspicions to Avian.

"Hun, wait.............i have to tell you something."

"Why so serious Serena, what's the matter??" "I think.........i think i'm pregnant Avian." She just blabbed.....there was no right way to tell him this.

"You.............what?............." "I think i'm pregnant Avian", Serena repeated.

"Pregnant?!?" Avian shouted with disgust.

"Why on earth did you get pregnant!" Avian almost spitted the words out of his mouth. He was so mad that he couldn't rationally think about what he was saying.
"Where on earth did you get the idea i wanted to have a child! I thought we discussed this over and over, we were perfectly happy on our own. No need to have to share attention with someone else like i used to when i was little. I know you grew up an only child, but seriously, i always had to share my parents attention with 14 siblings! Being the middle child makes you invisible!" Avian took a deep breath to continue his tirade, while all the memories from his childhood came back, and they came back hard. How he was always neglected, how there was always another sibling that needed the attention more. The moment he found Serena, he knew he would never want to share the attention she gave him, not even with a child of his own.

"Now you just wait one minute Mister!" Serena yelled back at him. "It's not like i planned this, and believe me, i am not thrilled either, but i sure as hell didn't get pregnant on my own."

"And you know just as well that i am not waiting for some attention and love begging child, just like my parents were". Growing up as a single child, in contrary to Avian, she could get all the attention she wanted. Even more so, because her parents always had the wish for a big family, but never could get more children then just Serena. So they showered her with attention, love and presents. They kept an eye on her all the time, never let her out of sight, and always wanted to know what she was doing because they were so afraid they'd loose her. They never understood why Serena was so bothered by that, and in their efforts to gain her love, they'd try even harder, keep an even more close eye on her. She would just freak out. So when she met Avian, she knew he was the one for her, and she started to pressure him to elope with her.

Knowing the state they were both in, Avian knew this would not be solved......At least not now, so he yelled: "oh just shut it!!"

Silence came once again, but it wasn't the calming silence they were used to. While staring angrily at each other, neither of them knew if it was possible to make this right again..........

Some out-takes:

As you can see, Avian is actually kind of scared of Serena.....but who wouldn't be, if you see her face :)

  2. Some notes:

I saw others doing this :) and thought it was great! As you can see, i went for the egocentric/egoistic parents, cause of their upbringing. I am starting to regret i focused their traits on their professions, i wish i had focused on this part a bit more as well, perhaps the dislikes children trait.
