Generation 1 - Part 6: Finding Security

Even though Avian said there was nothing wrong with her hair, she did return to the salon the other day. But this time she decided to get the opinion of a pro. "I think my butt's getting big......" "Hmmmm let me see"

"Oh!! Yes!! Now i see, look there, you can see a little bit of fat bulging over your skirt!!!" The lady says in a sarcastic tone.........Serena's mouth drops in disbelieve, she's about to give the lady a whipping when she notices a sparkle in her eyes and a faint smile on her face.

"Look", the lady says, "all you are doing is looking for reassurance, that's fine, i get that, you're getting older and that's frightening. But seriously! You look great! All i really need to do is correct the hairstyle a little bit, and perhaps a different color, but other then that.......i would not know what needs to improve."

After this little chit chat Serena finds her mood a bit lightened. And she starts to go home pretty content.

But while Avian is working on his new hobby, and is wondering where Serena went this time. He is not used to her not being around, Serena decides to drop by the gym. Apparently she is not fully reassured by the kind lady's words.

Upon arrival in the gym, Serena is very nervous about her new hair color. "Don't i look ridiculous?" She questions herself, "what if people laugh at me without me knowing it?"

But when she starts looking around to see all the people laughing about her, reality strikes her......."Seriously, what am i fuzzing about......if someone with a nose like that, and an outfit like that, has the guts to go out on the street! Then i should be able to accept who i am, right??"

So she takes a deep breath, stands up straight and heads for the treadmills.

While training on the treadmill she ponders the last few days. "What on earth was I thinking?? I know now that i am still good looking, perhaps being with Avian for to long has made me feel like i am not worth it to be looked at by other man?? After all, he has been my partner ever since high school, i never knew any other boys before him........." While pondering the situation she looks around and her eyes meet those of a reasonably good looking guy, and before she can tell herself not to, she steps of the treadmill and walks towards him.

"Hi" she starts the conversation, while feeling something she hasn't felt for a long long time. It's like a tingling feeling in her stomach, she's getting excited and feels like a teenager again!
"Hello." His deep voice sends shivers down her spine.

And before she knows it, she spits out the most cheesy pick-up line ever: "Gosh, it's hot in here.....how hot are you??" The faint smile on his face tells her enough...........she blew it.

Feeling very sorry for herself she starts to think about how she can resolve this situation without coming across as the biggest fool ever.

"Oh no, i seriously shouldn't have said that" Serena starts blabbing embarrassed, "i'm so sorry!!"

"Wait a minute," he interrupts her, "just wait a minute....." While Serena takes a deep breath to calm down, he continues "it's just......that i'm married," he says. That is the moment it hits her: "Oh no, Avian, what have I done??" "Avian??? My name is Dallas......did you mistake me for someone else???"

Realizing that she is only making this more complicated for the poor man, she does feel the need to explain why she flirted with him, and she suddenly finds herself telling him her life's story. How she met Avian, them eloping, her turning out to be pregnant (leaving out the part where they still regret having a child though, she's not an idiot), them fighting, making up again and then the moment she started to doubt herself and all the things she has been doing the last few days. "And what i just don't get", she ends her story "is that Avian doesn't seem to be affected by all of this, it looks as though he just continued where we left off!"

Showing off his feminine side Dallas starts to explain that some blokes just don't show their inner turmoil. And before they know it they spend at least an hour talking about their spouses and the things that annoy them.

It is already late when Serena goes home, feeling a lot better then she has in years. Apparently all she needed was someone to talk to that wasn't Avian. Knowing Avian would not understand it, and wouldn't like it either (she remembers very vividly how he exclaimed not wanting to share her attention), she decides to keep quiet about this.

She decides to ask Avian to sit outside and watch the stars, feeling lightened once again, she can see her future bright and clear. And it is, and will be, with Avian.

----------------------------------From the author (ROFL!)------------------------------------------

Sorry haha, it just cracks me up giving myself the title of author!

So here's the bit i planned to use for previous chapter, but i had so many loose pictures i did want to show, and with the bugs in Avian and all, i was happy i cut it short. Actually......i meant for Serena to confess her flirting with Dallas to Avian, i made a photoshoot of them conversing and making up on the couch.....but then  i realized that forgiving something like that (giving her attention to somebody else) isn't something he would forgive easily. I think he might have an attachment disorder............(leaving in the middle there how messed up Serena must be for refusing her parents overwhelming shower of love and presents......)

Anyways :) the next chapters will probably be more about the kid though :)

"Ha! look at those people!! What on earth could be so interesting about us!"

  1. Short and sweet :)

Loved Serena's reaction to the nose-lady in the gym. You have a lovely balance of humour and seriousness going on.

  2. Nicely done, Klevkin. I love Serena's insecurities, and the way zshe was finally able to get it together by talking to Dallas.

  3. Ha... Avian certainly does seem to have an attachment issue; but at least he treats Serena well. Can't say the same for their child. :(

The Dallas/Serena scene was well written. Good job.

  4. I don't know. Something about Serena still bothers me. Probably the fact that she loves her husband more than her child, or maybe I mean she loves her husband and not her child. =(

Nice chapter Klevkin. It was good to get to see more Serena's personality.

  5. i have to admit, that bothers me as well, and there are enough theories and social studys i could let go at it (might be stuff for something in the future of the legacy.....) but i think with her it's not really because her upbringing, i even wonder sometimes if she even capable of really loving, and thus if she even loves Avian.

  6. Yeah, Serena seems to be totally focused only on herself. Very selfish, which plays perfectly into the deadbeat parent thing.
