"Well, since it looks like you are going to stay, we'd better give you a name..." Luke said while looking pensively at the cat, "what do you think of Ginger?"
The cat looked up, put her ears down and set up her back, when she opened her mouth to hiss at Luke he put up his hands, "okay okay, I get it, you don't like the name Ginger...." The cat instantly calmed down and purred at Luke, "So you're going to be a handfull..."
The cat squinted her eyes at Luke, "okay I'm sorry, so what should we do, should I go get a book filled with names and read them to you? Perhaps that way we can find a name you like?" Luke's eyes widened as he rubbed his neck out of frustration when she walked up to him with her tail waving and started to rub up against his legs again, "I'll take that as a yes then." "Good boy"
It took Luke five agonizing days of searching books filled with babynames and reading them out loud to the cat, but with every name he read the cat would make it very clear that it was not a name for her. At some point Luke even tried boy names, but the cat just jumped on the couch and scratched his hand.On the fifth day the cat came towards him dragging a book along with her with her mouth. Luke took it from her and noticed it was a storybook for children about elfs and fairies. He started reading it out loud for the cat, not sure what her intentions were. The cat jumped up the couch and sat there, listening to him. Three hours later Luke reached the last story in the book. It was a tale about a little girl that got lost in the forest and was guided home by fairies who lit the way to her in the dark, "When Lydwin noticed all the lights forming a path through the darkness she noticed a warm feeling inside of her. But when Lydwin walked the other way, the warm feeling would dissipate and she'd start to feel very sad." Luke looked up at the cat when he noticed some movement coming from her, so he read the sentence again, "When Lydwin notice all the..." Before he could finish it the cat jumped on his lap and started purring, "Lydwin? is that it? That's the name you like?" The cat brushed up against his chest and purred even harder, "Right, so Lydwin it is then, do you want to hear the rest of the story?" When the cat curled up on his lap he took that as a yes and started reading the rest of the story to Lydwin.
It did not took Lydwin long to make herself at home at the Crist Residence, it was no big task to take over the household and command the humans to run for her. But Luke still did not know what to do with his life, nor with his mission to spread the violet. He found himself standing staring at Lydwin again when she suddenly looked him in the eye, jumped of her scratching post and headed outside. Once there she stood still and stared at him again. Her behavior made him believe she wanted him to follow her, so he headed outside and walked towards her. The moment the front door closed behind him, she took off again, only to stand still again when he didn't follow her. When he took off after her again she ran off as well.
She finally let him catch on to her when they reached a small field between some rocks and trees, not sure what her intentions were with bringing him here. When she took off again to a place behind him, he nearly sighed from frustration, wasn't his life hard enough already without his cat trying to play games with him?
But when he turned around to see where she went now, he could hardly breath. Lydwin had lured him here, to this place, to find this beautiful violet horse. Looking at this beautiful creature, Luke suddenly knew what he was supposed to do with the rest of his life.
