3.5 Reminiscence

With Ryan and Satya gone on their honeymoon, the twins busy with friends and Danya working on their saving account in the yard, Boy starts to feel the need to think back to his childhood. He is not sure why, he has always been able to put it away, as if his mind contained out of thousands of little drawers that can be opened and closed whenever he wishes. He had his childhood in this big ass drawer, closed off with this major lock on it, and threw away the key. But all those years made the lock rusty, and it has started to open up tiny little bit by bit, ever since Ryan grew up. Maybe it is because the twins are going to age up and leave the house soon. Or perhaps it is his old age that is the cause of all this.

Whatever it is, it makes Boy mad whenever he feels confronted by those memories. He has not been able to close the drawer, sometimes he manages to close it a little bit, but only to find it opened even further the next time he gets overwhelmed. He never understood his parents, why couldn't they love him, why did they have to let him know so obvious that they didn't love him. That he was only a burden on their lives. They never let pass a moment to let him know he was a mistake, a very unwanted mistake as well. Looking at the children he had raised, including his brother in law, he could not grasp the thought of any child being unwanted. And even though they never wanted him, they were his parents, and now he realizes that he did love them, and that he misses all the things that could have been.

Not willing to give it anymore thought, he decides to look up his son. Derrick has been doing good for himself, and looking into his boys eyes, he feels like he is looking into a mirror sometimes. Talking with Derrick makes him sad though, Derrick confides him with the situation between him and Angel. It appears as though they have nothing left to talk about, their relationship has reached a point where they both don't seem to be able to make any progress.

Boy glances over to his daughter in law, who has been running around the apartment with a fake smile ever since he arrived. There is something different about her, but he just can't seem to put his finger on it. He decides to just flat out ask it, seeing as Derrick is being open about everything at the moment, "what happened to Angel son?" Derrick glances at her as well, "I take you haven't run into Sabrina and Darrel yet? They should be coming home any minute now..." "No I haven't, but what does that have to do with what's up Angel?" "Sabrina came home from school not to long ago completely overwrought, puffy face and red eyes, she refused to talk to us though, so Angel called the school..." Derrick takes a deep breath, not sure how to continue, "It turned out that they had been assigned to write an essay about their familysituation, and because she's the only vampire in that class with a normal human father, the teacher asked her to write about  how she handles the idea of me going to pass away far sooner then the rest of our family..."
Noticing the distraught look on his sons face Boy asks the obvious, "you hadn't explained to her what it meant to have a human father yet?" "No we didn't, and to be honest, we hadn't given it much thought ourselves either, we knew it of course, but we never thought about it...but after having several conversations with Sabrina, Angel took the kids and went to the hospital and got them all cured so they don't have to deal with this anymore...without consulting me, you know, I could have changed as well!" Derrick suddenly raises his voice when he says that. Angels suddenly stops smiling her fake smile, tears well up in her eyes as she looks at Boy with a question in her eyes as to what to do about this, then she throws her husband a daring look, "I'm not sorry Derrick! We did this for you!" Boy interrupts, "you know what, I think you two need some time alone, talk to each other, tell each other honestly whats bothering you two, work on your relationship!" Looking at Derrick he continues, "how do you think your mum and I got this far...I'll wait for the kids downstairs and take them out to the park." As he heads for the elevator, the couple is still standing there, staring at each other.

Downstairs he finds Sabrina and Darrel, both of them are very happy to see their grandfather and are happy to go with him to the park. Sabrina also tells him that apparently she is also getting a new brother or sister, he doesn't blame the couple for not telling them, it appeared as though he had come at the wrong time and they both had different things on their mind.

Though not agreeing with his daughter in law curing them without consulting their father, he is happy to finally see them without that dreadful pale looking skin and weird glowing eyes. They looked so "dead" before. From what he can tell, Sabrina is happier now then she has ever been before, and he hopes that this will not cause anymore problems in this little family then it already has, not when there's a third child on the way.

After bringing the kids back to their parents, he arrives home to something he would never believed could happen. Sure, he has heard of ghosts hanging around their graves, but the grave of his mother is not here, it's in the cemetery, where no one ever visits it, so it will probably rot. But then again, what is his mothers ghost doing here?

At first Boy thinks he is going crazy, perhaps this is just some other manifestation of his MPS, though dr. Freud never mentioned the possibility of it manifesting like this. He tries to reject the sight he is seeing.

When the ghost seems to wander off, Boy just has to conclude it's not something his mind is creating, and he runs after it. He stands still in front of her, staring, just as she stares at him.

Then, without hesitating, he begins to yell at her, "You were my MOTHER! How could you not love me, I tried everything to make you and dad look at me! You never cared! I was a part of you for 9 months! And you cut me off, as if you'd cut off your arm and not regret it. I needed you so much! I was so alone!"
All his angst and rage finally came out, it didn't matter that the ghost didn't seem to know what he was talking about.

When Boy was finished with his rant, he felt hollow inside. As if an important bit of himself had gone. He found himself staring at the ghost again, who lacked any proper response to a scolding like that. When she shrugs and motions as if she feels sorry for him, he comes to the realization that this might be his mothers ghost, but that she does not seem to have any memory as to whom he is, or what she did to him. But apparently she was willing to let him rant and take the blame. A calm feeling washes over him as the tides was over the shore. He does not care how it is possible for his mothers ghost to be here, or that she doesn't resemble the person she was in live at all, this might be his chance to build up a relationship with his mother. And though he is sad it couldn't happen until after she died, he feels blessed by the opportunity to be loved by her this time.

---------------------------------------Notes----------------------------------------------

Sorry :) I really wanted to update, and since I was feeling sad, well then a sad chapter it is. I had some pictures waiting for me to do something with it....so I wrote this.

As for Derrick and Angel, I got sick of the vampire (so soon, yes, so soon) and I started to change them, and I had to explain it... SP did pop-up saying that Derrick had to start working on his relation, because it seemed to stagnate, or something like that. So I had it put into the story.
Fun-fact......only 1 simday after I changed Angel and the children into non-vampires, I got a pop-up from SP saying that Derrick had been accepted in the ranks of the blablablablabla, I don't recollect the precise text, but apparently Angel had bitten him to turn him........so I had to change him back as well.

  1. I think this is a great chapter. I love that Boy got to let out some of his angst at his mother's ghost.
And I hope stuff works out with Derrick and Angel.

  2. I agree with Melissa. I'm so glad that Boy is getting a chance to air his feelings with his mother, even if it is a bit late. Now he can (hopefully) live out the rest of his life in relative peace.

The kids looks so cute (not that they didn't before) now that they're cured! I miss Ryan and Satya. I hope they are enjoying their honeymoon!

  3. Awe. =[ I still feel so sorry for Boy. But I agree with Yang, I'm glad he got to get some things off his chest. Maybe now he can find some peace.

  4. Wow. Sabrina looks great as a human (I'm wishing my heir comes out at least half as pretty as her...)

I'm glad Boy got at least a little of his feelings out. It's not good to keep them bottled up. But hey! Even with his upbringing, look at the life he made for himself totally on his own! That's something to be proud of, right?

  5. The chapter is kind of sad but also sweet, it's good Boy got to let out some of his feelings about his upbringing even if his mother's ghost didn't recognise anything.

I hope Derrick & Angel sort their issues out & I love the way you incorporated the SP notices into the story
