When Satya doesn't even gets out of bed anymore, Madeline spents most her time sitting in that chair, watching over Satya as she sleeps.
When Rafe is sound asleep, Ryan goes downstairs and sits there with Madeline. Sometimes they talk, but mostly they'd just sit there, listening to Satya's breathing, to scared that it might just stop, right then and there.

Most of the time, Madeline doesn't even go home anymore, she just naps on the couch. She knew it was the wrong thing to do, but she has gotten to attached to Satya. And not just to Satya, but to this entire family, she feels as though she has become a part of it.
Though nobody mentioned it out loud, it soon became an unwritten rule that Satya was never to be left alone. Everybody would take their turn downstairs to be with Satya and watch over her.
When Rafe asked his father if it was okay for him to sit with his mother after school, Ryan refused at first, not sure if the boy understood why they were sitting at his mothers bedside. But Ryan soon understood he could not refuse his son those moments with his mother, while knowing it was the only time he had left with her.
When Ryan had some time left he goes outside to run, to be alone, to think. At times he feels like he is being lived. There is so many things to do, so many last things he could have done with Satya. He feels at a loss when he thinks back of the day he decided it would be fun to take Satya on a honeymoon to Egypt. No matter how many times Satya has told him not to feel guilty, he can't help but feel it is his fault. If he hadn't decided to save up his money to surprise her, she would not have been sick, and his son would still have a future with his mum to look forward to. If only he had gotten her a watch or something like that. He wishes he could turn back the hands of time, stop her from opening that chest. If it would have kept her alive, he would even decide to faint at his prom all that years back, and not dance with her, he'd never lay an eye on her if that would be the thing to do to save her.
With his mind racing through all the things that could have been, he always ends up with Satya's voice in his head, saying all those things he needs to hear to stop him from losing it. All those conversations they've had, all those times she has told him she never regretting a single moment in her live, that she has been lucky enough to even know a love like they had. While running even harder he wipes away the tears that are running down his cheeks. He knows very well that her time on earth is running short, and that she won't live to see the end of the week.
A few days later Rafe refuses to go to school, he can't explain why not, he is not feeling ill, he just doesn't want to leave is mum. At that point Ryan knows, he has already noticed that children are more perceptive to things than adults will ever be, so he calls up the school and tells them Rafe will probably not be attending for a while. With the two of them spending the day with Satya, they suddenly get up, both feeling a different vibe coming from the otherwise calmly sleeping Satya.
Knowing Satya expressed the wish to not die alone, everybody who is close to her has been hanging around the house ever since the beginning of this week. When Satya suddenly get's up and starts to get out of bed, Ryan realizes this might not happen as they had pictured it to happen. Satya would not stay asleep and just stop breathing. Quickly realizing how traumatizing this might get, he tries to tell Rafe to go upstairs, but the boy simply clutches his hands and refuses to do so.
Though scared by the prospect of his mother dying in front of him, he decides he can't just leave her alone, he wants to be there for her, no matter how much it hurts him to look at her being in pain. "I love you mum!" He says as she looks at him, not able to say anything back, she brings her fingers to her lips as to blow him a kiss. Then she gets up and can't do anything else but to let the last phase of her disease grab a hold of her.
When the disease reaches its final stage, Satya can't hold back her screams of pain. Rafe looks as his father, not sure how to be strong for his mother anymore.
But his father can't do anything to help him, because everything is happening so fast.
Before Ryan could run over to protect his son, cover his ears, or do anything, Satya dissolved into a pile of sand. Leaving everyone behind in shock, with her screams still ringing in their ears.
All this time, Boy just stood there, looking at his son going through all this, the hurt, the pain, and wishes he could keep him from further pain, but he knows he can not. He knows more pain will come.
Danya looks back at Boy, as if she knows what is going on in his mind, an even more painful feeling washes over her.
Looking back at the pile of dust that was once Satya, she feels the presence of the Grim Reaper but refuses to look at it.
At first Satya feels blessed, the pain is gone, her eyesight is fully restored, somehow she feels calm inside.
But when she looks around the room, seeing all those people that she loves so much hurt by her demise, she drops on her knees, begging the Reaper to undo this, to give her a chance to be with her family.
He doesn't respond, but look up to him, she knows there is no way back, this is it, and she has to go with him.
When Satya is gone, the Reaper feels bad, and runs over to Ryan to explain to him there was no way he could have given Satya more time. He had already kept her alive longer then he was allowed to. Ryan cries silently, not sure what he is to do with what the Reaper is telling him, it is not bringing his wife back, so he turns his back on the Reaper, assuming it will leave soon.
As he turns around he notices Madeline passed out on the floor. Not willing to take care of her either right now, he lets her be, knowing she will come to in a few minutes. There is only one person in this room right now who Ryan must take care of.
And that person is his son, who is not sure anymore of what to feel. He feels angry at his mother, feels guilty for being angry, he feels sad, it is just to much for this little boy to take in all at once. So Ryan walks over to him, knowing he has to help his son get through this.
He takes Rafe in his arms, and while holding him tight, Rafe finally lets the tears come. And as the others are leaving the room Ryan sits down on the floor, pulls Rafe on his lap and sits like that with him hours, letting his own tears run free as well.
-----------------------------------------notes-----------------------------------
For who have not guessed it yet, I gave Satya the mummy curse. I decided to let it run its course, but all it did for me was the screen darkening around the edges when I had her selected, which gradually got worse, like this:
I only saw the mummy face that is supposed to show up once. So i'm not sure if it was glitched or something. I made up the other symptoms to make it more like a true illness.
As for the legacy rules. I did not have Maddie living at my place. I did prevent her from getting a job or anything that would consume her time, so she was able to get there whenever I wanted. Most of the time I also prolonged her stay by asking her to stay the night, at one point she was there for I think 4 consecutive days cause of me asking her to stay every day again.
The only time I did have her in the household, was 1 day before the curse ran to its end. She did not bring in any money or had any other function then just be there. I thought it would be allowed for story purpose :).
Right, so where I am now, Satya is gone, so is her job, she didn't get very far, but she did manage to write a few books which I all gave titles related to her dying. She died with the unfinished work "when illness strikes". I have twallans mod that lets the books exist in the stores, so they can be bought by future gens or other sims.
Ryan is currently production manager, which is level 5 of his career. The first part of marital structure is done, the first child is here. So what's left is another partner and another child, as to half siblings rules from the second partner.
Off to the second phase of my story! I close this chapter of Ryan's life with a close up of the prank faces from previous chapter :) I didn't want to spoil the sad mood I was trying to set by adding notes :) I especially enjoy the look on Ryan's face :D, in reality, they were eating the food just as it got bad, so Ryan never took a bite and just stood up to throw it away while the ladies stood up simultaneously to do this :).

Satyaaaaaa : ( I knew it was coming, but it still made me sad. Poor Rafe, and poor Ryan. I hope they heal.
ReplyDeleteAt least they got to say their goodbyes. <3
Thank you for the picture of Ryan's prank. That made me smile and really cheered me up I needed it after that chapter. <3 <3 <3
Very well written, Klev. I feel really bad for Ryan and Rafe.
ReplyDeleteOh Klev, why do you do this to me. So sad! Hopefully Ryan and Rafe will find happiness again.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm really liking this song idea. I might steal it one day. =]
Wow, that was soooooo sad! I was doing ok until the shots of Rafe and Satya, with her in the cloud and his horrified face, that was so traumatic!! But excellently written.
ReplyDelete*sigh* I think I just shed a Satya flavoured tear.
